MQXWest

Over the week-end I was able to travel to Portland, Oregon for a family visit and to see the MQXWest quilt show!  Above is me with my Med Tech Quilt, and the sign :-).  The quilts were just stunning!  Below is a few of my personal favorites.  Enjoy!

It looks like that's all blogger will let me upload. There was many more.  This is really a great who, and I'm glad I got to go!  I also met Anya of Rainy Day Threads while I was there.  Proof that it's a small world, as she used to work with 1 of the 2 ladies I went with!

  1. Your quilt looks good with YOU!!!! Thanks for sharing some of the quilts with us. I just love the 'bloom' quilt. So bright and cheerful!

  2. I agree with Beth! ;-) I admit, though, I found some of the dense quilting on those white backgrounds -- ones which surrounded very small injections of colour -- rather distracting. Some of it doesn't seem to complement the piecing...Is this becoming a trend?

  4. Hi Becky! I'm the maker of "Bloom" (my name is right below yours on the list) and I'm tickled to see your pictures of the show. What machine did you use to quilt your piece? I'm asking because from the photos you've shared, it looks like I'm the only one who used a domestic machine for quilting. That means a LOT to me because my goal is to FMQ on my home machine as well as anyone who stand-up quilts. So maybe I did it? Love seeing the pictures of the other quilts. I noted Margaret's comments and would answer her "yes." Dense quilting in the negative space is a trend now, begun by Angela Walters. But you think the quilting doesn't compliment the design? I've been FMQing since 1998, and now spend more time on the quilting than on the top. I'm grateful that Debbie (comment above mine) emailed me the link to your post, Becky. Thank you very much for sharing.

  5. What a fun trip! Those are some great quilts too. Thanks for sharing them. That Gears quilt is pretty cool and the House Plan one is so interesting!
